Taylor, a Tooth, and Determination

It all came down on a Tuesday or Thursday a few weeks ago. Taylor claimed his tooth felt loose. I couldn't feel it and it looked just the same as ever so I simply let it go at that. Kelby said he could feel it wiggle just a little bit, (he is our dental expert after all). So many of Taylor's friends lost teeth already that Taylor took that just a little bit and practically pulled his own tooth. It really should be in his mouth even today, but he possesses alot of determination and it got the better of him this time.

Here is the exact run down. Taylor, Ian, and I are sitting on the couch together and the boys have the ps2 on. No surprise there. Ian is in the midst of a game and all of a sudden Taylor starts jumping around half crying and yelling that his tooth came out. It came out with such force we had to find it, and it took a good minute to do so. So I get him to stop jumping and tell him to stop crying since this is a normal occurence at around this age, and then he looks at me with a big bloody grin. I about lost my stomach. He looked like a satiated vampire. "I'm not crying," he says, "I am happy!" I called Kelby's secretary in a frantic please keep my stomach attitude and she gave solid advice on how to stop the bleeding in his mouth.

Here is Taylor's lost tooth with a good portion of the root left. According to Kelby it would have remained longer had Taylor not pried it out so forcibly. Like I said, Kelby is our dental expert around here.
Here is the hole in his mouth. You can't even see a new tooth coming in. When Kelby informed Taylor it would be at least a month before you could see it Taylor looked so dissappointed! We recommended to him that the next time he gets a loose tooth to let it take its course instead of prying it out early. I think we convinced him when we told him it would hurt alot less and there wouldn't be so much blood. I know my stomach will appreciate it.

Here he is showing off the gap in his head. He just discovered that he can spit water out of the hole after he brushes his teeth. I truly hope that is the only time he chooses to do that.

Anyway, Kelby brought him a cute tooth holder in the shape of a molar home from his dental office. Taylor put is tooth in it, and placed it under his pillow. I disturbed him when I kissed him goodnight so he sat up in bed, rotated his upper body, picked up his pillow to check for loot, and when he found nothing he sighed heavily and layed back down as if he was dead asleep again. He never even acted like he knew I was there. Kind of unnerving to a wannabe tooth fairy. I did find opportunity though, and the tooth fairy brought him $2 in quarters. Now Ian wants to lose a tooth too. I swear the insanity never ends!

Random Sleep Shots

I admit it! I think my kids look so cute when they sleep that I take an inordinate amount of pictures of them engaged in dreaming. Here are my favorites as of late:
He fell asleep getting ready for bed. Notice the subtle middle finger. Do little kids know what that means?
I like how he insists his blue dogs must go to bed with him, but he doesn't cling to them the way he used to. I guess he grew up a little on us.

Ian still clings to his special bear.
One night we came in to find both boys curled up in the same bed.
Ian took an afternoon nap and here we see the impressions of his little fingers on his cheek.
Another night we came in to find Taylor's bed all made and him sleeping on top of it. We fixed the situation since he would get cold and all. In the morning he explained that he didn't want to have to make his bed when he woke up so he figured if he just slept on top of his bed he could save himself a little work. Kids!

Made Beds

My boys made my bed for me today. They are so sweet! I love to hear them whispering about the surprise and then not letting them know that I actually knew about it. They'd be so disappointed. Besides, I am so persuasive on stage.
Here they are standing in front of their masterpiece. They are the best of friends.
This is Ian's bed. This picture is really a few weeks old, but I am sharing it anyway. I love that my little guy finally figured out how to make his bed. My favorite thing about it besides I don't have to do it anymore, is how carefully he arranges all his special items across his pillow.

Here is his special blanket all folded up. He did it all by himself. I am one proud mom!
