Christmas Morn

Funny things said this morning.....

By Taylor-
How come Jesus' birthday comes on Christmas?

Wow Mom! You don't have to get this for me anymore because Santa Claus brought it!

How come we have to have a hot chocolate maker?
---Because it is a present from Aunt Tysi and daddy really likes it
But how come we have to have it?

Whoa! What in the heck?

My personal favorite...
Santa Claus could come because I said sorry after every bad thing I did.

By Ian-
When confronted by a room full of presents....
WOW!!!

Looky that Mommy, looky that, looky that, looky that....

At lunchtime when Kelby asked Ian if he wanted a peanutbutter sandwich, Ian said...
Nope, I want Pizza
Kelby then related we didn't have any, and Ian responds rather fast while pointing to the door
Go get some.

By Kelby-
First you have to understand the background, you see, we read the last few Harry Potters TOGETHER. We'd take turns reading out loud while the other one worked on things that needed to get done. For Christmas Kelby got, Tales of Beedle the Bard. I walked in on him reading it and he was almost done! How could I be so naive? So I ask, "You read the whole thing without me?" And that Kelby said....

Nope, I'm only on page 91.

Meaning- Nope, not yet, but yeah I'll have read it without you real soon.

My New Take On the Santa Claus Issue...
So I've decided letting them believe in Santa isn't so bad afterall. Is it really so terrible that they believe in a selfless individual who loves children? And after all the fun we had this morning I'm nearly sold on telling happy lies.
Taylor cleaned up his train track in his bedroom last night because he didn't want santa to step on it and break it when santa checked on him. Just before he went to bed he came and told me that, "Santa might come and give me a kiss tonight while I am sleeping." He is so positive that Santa acts out of love, (and we do, but we are really two and often go by the name of parents), and I love his innocence. I hope we have many more Christmases like this one to come.

I agree. I went to listen to a man who has played Santa for nearly 30 years. He spoke of his experiences of being Santa and how closely we can parallel his mission with Christ's mission. He really gave me something to think about this year and I will be forever grateful. Now I just need to remember what he taught me so I can make sure that Lilly and Tom see Santa as a symbol of Christ and his love for us.
Merry Christmas!
